The 2nd Part of my Accident Story - Life or Death News Clippings

Today’s newspaper clippings were published on the 3rd, 8th and 10th September 2007. And for someone a breath away from death only 7 weeks prior, I ain’t looking too bad.
With the help from my daughter who, at the time, was doing her hairdressing apprenticeship I just had to get my hair dyed to hide the greys, and get back to the land of the living to take the reins of both my businesses’ from my hospital room.

The September 3rd edition states, “Pub fall landlady to write a book”. Well, that was the intention at the time, but life gets in the way and it’s taken me this long to share my story. I got there in the end, once I get an idea I will see it through, I just don’t set a date to finished it…. ;-)

In the September 8th edition, kind words from Spencer Feeney, were printed in the newspapers Editor’s Opinion page. I was still in Morriston Hospital when one of the nurses brought the newspaper in for me to have a look. The headline being “Amanda’s story is one of courage”.
I had, and never have, met this man and what he wrote was truly humbling to me. And if by chance he reads this, then I say a big “thank you”, to him.

Then on September 10th another nurse came into my room with the newspaper, to show me a small, but beautiful letter sent into The Evening Post’ Have You Say page. With the title “Inspiration to us all”.
I don’t know if I know the person who wrote and sent in the letter, or if they are male or female, but again I want to say,

“A big thank you to, C Williams”, for your heartfelt kind words.

The 2nd Part of my Accident Story - Life or Death News Clippings

This week’s news clippings from 2007 were published on the 16th August. Four weeks after my accident.

I’m back in the land of the living from being in a coma, now breathing and eating unaided and starting to take note of the world around me. Taking it all in. Still none the wiser of what had happened apart from my partner stating there may have been a burglary, as a few of his possessions were missing.

It had taken me a little while to get back to talking. After all the surgery I had had done, it was going to be a long journey of recovery. Surgery done to the left eye alone was done upwards through my mouth so talking and eating was hard for a few weeks.

Even trying to write my name took some time, but as soon as my hand and mind started to work together brain damage was banished from the medical records. I was recovering well and quicker than expected.

Although the pictures in the newspaper don’t do me justice lol…. But from almost being a breath away from death I’m not complaining I’m just smiling ;-)…. The Gods didn’t want me just yet…. xXx

The 2nd Part of my Accident Story - Life or Death

The dates in the news paper clippings are the 19th & 20th July 2007 and I’ve been in a coma for 4 days, while the local newspaper is reporting what little information they can get a hold of to be published.

They start to open up the story as a “mystery”.

The Cricketers Pub and the side road was still sealed off, and the forensic team were in dusting the place over for any evidence.

I am still in a critical condition at this time and my partner is recovering well. The police want to speak with him to find out if he could tell them what happened.

They had also set up an incident room and a contact phone number should anyone have any information, but to no avail.

Since I posted last weeks instalment, I have had quite a few private messages from people who didn't read the news paper at the time and some who remember reading it as if it were yesturday.
It is bringing back sadness and tears to a lot of people, and I want you to know that you still mean just as much to me now as you did then.... Nothing is forever, or without imperfections, we must deal with the cards life throws at us.... and keep smiling ;-)

I want to give a big, big thank you to all the support being given to me right now, from all who know me and all who are only now checking me out....  ;-) xxx
